Evolutionary Coaching: The Journey from Ego to Soul Image

‘Angel in Marble’ by David Michaelengelo, is a perfect metaphor for understanding The Journey From Ego to Soul. David said, “I saw an angel in marble and I freed him.”

Michelangelo stated that when he carved the sculpture David, he was merely extracting what was already present in the marble. That is the task at hand on this quest. We, too, must chip away at the ego's fortifications. Eliminate the beliefs that others have imposed on us. And purge ourselves of items that no longer serve us or bring us joy.

Our soul and ego are both integral parts of who we are, and we can think of them as diametrically opposed aspects of ourselves that coexist and emerge when we need them, depending on the situation.

You have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you. None can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul. ~ Swami Vivekananda

Is Ego vs Soul= Good vs Bad?

When we consider ego vs soul, it's natural to see one as good, the soul, and the other as bad, the ego. However, this is not the case.

"Ego" is the Latin word for "I," and I believe that this definition adequately conveys what the ego means on its own.

The ego is who we are in our minds; it is made up of conscious thoughts and beliefs, labels, and a sense of self-identity.

The ego is advantageous when it comes to decision-making because it is adept at weighing consequences and outcomes and viewing situations objectively. It is also a motivating force that can assist us in thriving in today's society - it frequently gets the job done, regardless of the reason.

It also determines our own perspective on the external world, though this is frequently distorted by our own emotions and prior experiences, rather than by objective reality. And, in contrast to the soul, it is primarily self-serving, focused on your own wants and needs rather than the collective.

Priorities appear to be skewed in contemporary society. We'll spend time exercising, acquiring new skills for work, or binge-watching our favourite television show. However, we do not prioritize our spiritual development. The egoic mind does not require us to connect with our authentic selves. However, it is the only part of us that we take with us when we die. That is why it is critical that we awaken.

We Are Here On This Earth to Expand and Grow

The egoic mind has worked at burying our authentic selves for years as it did its job of protecting us. But we are here on this Earth for our souls to expand and grow. By opening up and living from the heart and not the mind, we align ourselves with Spirit. We put ourselves into the magic of flow and synchronistic moments begin to occur regularly.

Once we allow the heart to take the lead instead of the ego, we begin to live out our dreams. The dreams we have were put into our hearts by spirit. Those visions we have are our mission here on this planet. We have a purpose. If we follow the soul’s voice, it provides us with the means and opportunities to accomplish our hearts’ soulful assignment.

All our lives, the soul has been speaking to us so we can accomplish the mission we were born to do. If we don’t awaken, who will accomplish that which we were created to do?

We need to wake up and take hold of our dreams.

To have an awakening on Journey from Ego to Soul, check out the The Coaching Conclave 2021 where Richard Barrett is speaking.

In the words of Richard, "Life is a journey of psychological evolution. We start the journey operating from soul consciousness and within a few years of being born we shift into operating from ego consciousness. If all goes well, we start to reactivate our soul consciousness in our 30s and 40s and eventually learn how to become one with our soul. There are seven stages to this journey. Richard will describe each stage of this journey, the critical importance of individuating and self-actualizing stages, and how you as an evolutionary coach can help your clients grow and develop in soul consciousness."
